Positive Review

"A true love affair."

I owned this car for 11 years. Had the 02 wagon. It went truly everywhere with me - from heavy gridlock interstate commuting, to 15" deep snow covered country lanes, to winding, rutted NW logging roads, to beach driving to country highway cruising, and it did it all with great aplomb. It lived life with me as a single guy in my twenties, to a married man, to a dog owner and finally to family man with two kids. It served as my sports car as much as my Home Depot hauler. It was a reliable, go everywhere, utility vehicle that had enough sportiness to it to competently hold its own against far more purpose built vehicles. Having previously been a Honda guy (a civic, an integra and an accord), this one car converted me. Sadly, last week, I got into an accident when someone bumped me from the back left, shifting my direction just enough to send me plowing straight into a 30" diameter tree just off of the side of the road. The tree didn't move and the wrx was totaled. It was a huge loss. But what I can say is that here I am, less than a week later, in reasonably good shape all because, on top of everything else brilliant about this car, it was built to be safe. The crumple zones worked flawlessly and the airbags did what they were supposed to do. Paramedics had to remove the roof to get me out, but I got out in one piece without any permanent injuries. This was the best car I have ever owned. And it saved my life.

Critical Review

"Loved it til headgasket then frame went 11000 km"

Loved the car for its 4WD in the local snow mid Vancouver Island BC. Maintained by schedule. Head gasket started to leak around 85000 mi when 10 years old. 3500$ later new gasket/waterpump assembly. 6 months later mechanic pointed out could push a screwdriver through the front cross members in the frame. I bailed, traded it in. On a Impreza Cross Trek. Hoped the 2002 Impreza Outback Sport would have given me 12 or 14 years. No such luck!

Fun to drive!
Pros

It IS fun to drive! Big trunk. Plenty of leg room.

Cons

It could use a larger center console, but it’s ok.

Quick to turn, easy to park, hugs the roads, good in snow! I’ve have a Bronco II, and Explorer, both feeling top heavy on mountain roads.

Wrx auto to manual swap.
Pros

fun to drive even automatic

Cons

engine blew at 133k in current rebuild

as long as you swap to sti drivetrain. any other reg automatic gd impreza you could just keep diffs to keep it cheaper if need be but 07'd have a unique final drive of 3.71 so a sti rear diff is needed. going dcc bout to have me a sleeper in a few years

Clear title
Pros

Has great get up and go to pass vehicles

Cons

Interior shows wear and multi CD changer Not workR

I drove a lot in and out of town, always kept me safe in ice and all conditions! I changed oil every 3,000 mi and timing belt every 90-100,000 miles. Had transmission rebuilt 5 yrs ago and no problems. Would keep but injured my Achilles on left, shifting foot.

My Little Go-cart
Pros

Fun to Drive~ It's Zippy!

Cons

None yet

With the rising fuel prices driving my 2500HD got real expensive. I found this 2006 Impreza on market place with 161k miles for $3,400. This is such a fun economy car to zip around and through traffic, I call it my little go-cart... Needless to say, I'm happy with my purchase.

One of the best all around cars. Does anything!
Pros

fun to drive, all around great car.

Cons

Heavy but still powerful.

I have driven this car for 6 years. It was one of the most reliable, easy to work on cars. It could literally do anything. She was a tank and drove really well until 220,000 miles. All I got to say is if you see one for sell online that it would be a good investment. This car is perfect for anyone who does daily driving but might want to do outdoor things. It is also a great starter car. I am glad I owned this car.

Amazing car
Pros

Fun, quick, sounds amazing, looks good,

This has been an amazing car for me. No major issues but the minor things all the time get annoying. Almost every gasket, from exhaust gaskets to valve covers. Gaskets are the only downfall
