Positive Review
the mid 1990's subarus were known to be very reliable cars with no frills. they had good engines that did not suffer from the headgasket issues the later engines showed. they were underpowered and did not get exceedingly good gas mileage but they ran and ran. My impreza was purchased with 19,000 miles on it and it now has 175,000. it was used by me throughout college and then for several years as my main work car. Gave it to my sister when she was in high school. got it back when she was done. great car.
Critical Review
I loved the way this little car runs. It has plenty of power. Its a fun car to drive and is comfortable to ride in. It does have a bad wheel bearing and needs a CV joint. so its not drivable at this point. The Motor is strong and it has new tires on the rear. Mostly it is a great parts car. But well worth a look to the right party.

Responsive steering, small but mighty
Slow
I have had this car for the past 7 years. During that time I have replaced tires, rims, brakes, rotors, and the battery. Just basic maintenance for the age of the car. It has also had a major oil leak that the mechanics say they can't reach. So I just top off the oil once a month. With proper maintenance and care when driving it this subaru can last 250000 easy. My subaru has gone through alot of outdoor adventures and perhaps the only downside may be speed and clearance. Besides that handles Terriffic in snow, ice, and rain. Never needed chains and never had an accident. I'll drive this car until it dies.
Fun to drive, ultra reliable, compact yet spacious
Slow
Remember this car was born not for general consumers but for the rally stages then watered down for the general public. So this means it’s a watered down version of a phenomenal, well designed and well planned out all around beast of a car. Handles corners handles slippery conditions can take 4 people comfortable for 200+k miles.
Fun to drive, Compact, Responsive Steering, Style
Noisy engine, Bad MPG, No CD, Slow
I got this car in 2019 with around 208,000 miles on it. I got it for my 16th birthday from my uncle. It was a great car to learn on because of its age and also size. I currently still have the car and it is still my only car. I am looking for a new car because it has been starting to give me some problems, but I understand because of its miles. Anyways, this car has never given me any major issues within two years of ownership. Just recently, I replaced the radiator because it began to leak everywhere. Otherwise, regular oil changes and minor things. One thing I am confused about is that the tank is supposedly 15.9 gallons but the most I have ever filled up was probably 13 gallons. MPG on this car isn't so great considering its weak performance. I have taken this car to the mountain a dozen times with my buddies; no chains and street tires. 0 issues. I got stuck once but got out easy thanks to its AWD system. I recommend this for beginners or those that want a project car. Add a turbo and some other things and it will be quite quick.
Reliable, inexpensive, fun to drive
Getting louder (engine noise) in its old age
I bought my car used in 2003, and paid it off in 2005. Ever since, I have done the minimum maintenance - oil changes and other necessities, and I think I've only spent around $2500 on additional maintenance needs. I've only replaced the battery three times. This thing starts like a rock star, plows through the snow, and gets solid gas mileage. It feels really safe, and I think it's really a good looking model. Couldn't be happier these last 16 years!
this car is good on fuel
no cd
this car never been driving out of state just around town and surrounding county good car
responsive, full of character, awd
gas millage bad, no turbo
the Impreza was mad in the late 90s up to 01 it is very responsive, and does an amazing job at connecting to the driver. Since it is an older car it does not have all of the new technology cars nowadays have itll help you learn how to better know your car. The car is built with alot of character and is a great car for anyone
Reliability
Cant think of any!
No part on this car ever failed, NOT ONE. In 20 years, I replaced the battery, the brakes, and the tires. I had all the scheduled maintenance done so the belts, hoses, and timing belt were replaced when Subaru said to do so. The car never broke down, the Check Engine light never came on, it never overheated, nothing bad ever happened. Not one single thing! This car never let me down.
this car is awesome in the snow I am the 2nd owner it has had some body repair because off rust ive owned it for 5 years and the only problems ive had was tires and I just had to get a new battery yesterday. I just need something that I can take on long trips to visit my family back east
