Positive Review
This new S Class is one of the best cars in the world, Motor Trend even picked it over the Tesla Model S. I have intensly reviewed the Tesla Model S and the S Class, I have gotten to drive them both, the winner... the Mercedes Benz. This car has more saftey features than any other car on the market, it is also the first car to feature all LED lights inside and outside the vehicle. This car is more advanced in saftey than the Telsa, suprising but it is true. Europeans are masters of the automobile, and this car is truly the highest expression of what a car is. I loved riding in the Tesla, but the new S Class is the definite winner.
Critical Review
As the owner of over 20 new Mercedes (I now own six) purchased since 1985, I find the 2014 S550 the worst Mercedes I have ever owned from a comfort and aesthetic standpoint. Why did the engineers decide to give us a half wooden, half padded leather steering wheel? Why did they move the left turn signal to a new position? Why did they move the cruise control lever? Why are the brushed aluminum control buttons on the steering wheel impossible to read in glaring sun? Why s it necessary to remove your hand from the wheel to activate the horn? Why is the wheel so uncomfortable and causes my hands to ache after several hours? Why did they move the wheel spokes? And these are just the beginning of my complaints. I don't have the time nor inclination to continue! I will soon be rid of it.

I purchased my 2015 s550 preowned in 2019 with 51,000 miles. It was a one owner car. The car was just traded in for a new 2019 s550. The car was well taken careful with all the books and records. I have not spent any money except for a trunk release repair. The only other money spent was for scheduled maintenance, which was not overly expensive. I have 88,000 miles on the car. I enjoy the ride, quietness, and driving comfort. I would highly recommend the s550 as a new or preowned car. Just do your homework and have your mechanic check it over.

I love my car it was originally $120.000 brand new! It still looks New! It’s a 2015 Silver exterior S550 Mercedes Benz with less than 25.000 miles on it. Black leather seats inside. Never been Smoked in, New run flat tires, and just been inspected! We call this Beautiful Car (The Silver Fox) if you are interested in purchasing it I’m am selling it for $60.000 if you want to see pictures I can send plenty pictures also! Hank you
Am the original owner and have handled this car carefully since day one. It does great on road trips, with better than expected gas mileage and a very smooth, controlled ride. My biggest complaint is the quality of the body/paint. The car is always garaged and always hand washed by me. The coating on the 'chrome' front grill began to peel off, requiring a new grill replacement. The clearcoat on the roof is failing and starting to chip away. No matter how you wash/wax it, it never seems to get to a high end finish. Other complaint is that it does seem to go through brakes and tires fairly quick with run flat tires at about every 10k miles ('normal' per the dealer).
ride, great gas mpg & power, safety features, opts
too many menus to sift thru to adj heat, seats, etc
Amazing car with unbelievable technology, but too tedious with all the different computer levels and options to make adjustments for temp, seats, radio, etc. Example, can't make any changes while nav screen is on and then you still have to make multiple selections to get what you want to do. Great handling and awesome acceleration and I get 32mpg on trips (checked several times), about 28 when I mix in the local driving. Smooth comfortable ride but I get a slight hum between 52 and 65 mph (not from tires) that they can't get rid of. Test drove same yr and modle with a service rep and got the same hum. Very annoying having to use an app for remote start - it fails to work most of the time for a variety of reasons. When it does work it takes at least 1-2 minutes to accomplish compared to 2 sec for any other car I've owned. Disappointed not a touchscreen.
Our Mercedes 2018 S560 is the best sedan we have ever owned. We are still driving it after 41000 miles. It is comfortable, quiet, gets 27 mpg on the road and about 16 around town. We could buy a new one but we are so satisfied with this one driving like a new one we don't see the need to do so. It listed sticker price was about $110,000 and compared to other similar cars it has been worth what we paid for it.
I own this car and am the original owner. It's the best ride I've ever had, but the issues I've experienced cause me to give it a 3. The front grill rides so close to the ground you will end hitting the front on anything that's taller than a few inches. You cannot pull up into a parking place. You have to park a couple feet back to avoid the curb that most cars have the clearance to drive up to. I've had to replace the front chrome pieces several times. The key fob doesn't always work. I need to have a manual ignition option. There is no spare tire. It has "no flat" tires which is great if you're in a city; but if you're driving over 50 miles on the highway, you have no refuge. I need to have a spare just in case. The cost of maintenance is very high. The tires don't last 40k miles, they last about 20k. And when you need a brake pad change (which happened to me at about 26k miles) you have to replace the pads and the rotors. And those are not cheap. Just not worth the price.
Lots of power on tap
No surprise, expensive to own
Amazing car, with outrageous power and AWD, and the ride is incredible. You are in complete isolation in this car, I've owned several Mercedes and this one is by far the finest. We did have to put new brakes on her and it was pricey, but not surprising, as the brakes are very large. When you have a lot of go, like this car, you need a lot of woooo, to get it stopped.
