"Best car I've owned but watch repair cost."

Bought this car 4 years ago with 50k on the clock....now have 112K. Great Ride, Quiet and quality. Dealer cost repair can be expensive. If you are have any mechanical skills you can save a small fortune. Only had 3 issues with this car. Catalytic Converter was warrantied by Mercedes for 8 years...failed after 8 year 2 months. Mercedes Dealer wanted $1200 to repair..Mercedes does not manufacture converters, took it to a muffler shop...replaced for $250. Dash Display was warrantied by Mercedes for 10 years....failed after 10 years 2 months. Dealer wanted $950 for the display and 128 Labor to fix, all replacement display units are re-manufactured. Located a re-manufacturer in Mass. Took less than 30 sec to remove display...shipped unit to them, it was returned in 3 days. Cost of repair $165 included free shipping. Took 15 seconds to reinstall. Electric cooling fan started making noise at 110K. Dealer wanted $1100 to $1200 to fix($750 to 900 for the part)...located a new fan assembly online for $349 including shipping...ordered and had it the next day. Three bolts to remove old unit. Total of 10 minutes..

Exceptional Opportunity

Vehicle is immaculate condition both operationally and in appearance. It has been garage housed and has just 66,000 miles on it.

Best Mercedes Ever
Pros

Dependable, great fuel mileage, comfortable

Cons

none

I have owned a lot of Mercedes cars , but the one that stands out is my 2004 S 430, comfortable, great fuel mileage, (as high as 30 mpg highway) the car is super dependable, inexpensive to own and maintain, if you take care of it. Maintain it properly, change the oil every 5000 miles, run some Berryman's fuel injector cleaner every other fill up ( $3.50 at Walmart) and you will have a great car. I bought the car with 70,000 miles and have 107000 on it now, all i have done beside the regular maintenance is changed the transmission fluid at 100K, my Mercedes mechanic said it's a lifetime fluid, and didn't need changing, but i did it any way (preventive maintenance) The interior seats are covered in Leather, and it wears incredibly well, i love the wood accents in the interior which gives it a rich look, the trunk is spacious, the soft closing doors are wonderful. The S430 has good power, and the engines are bullet proof. It doesnt quite have the power of the 500 motors but it's enough if you need it . I recommend this model highly.

Beautiful hardtop convertible

The vehicle has a timeless classic style. The drawback is the car is a maintenance nightmare. Last year the car spent more time on a flatbed wrecker than it did on the road. Five ABC hoses and an actuator. The Michigan license plate is $374 based on an $81,000 original cost. An oil change is $275. However the car us a great driving experience if we can keep it out of the repair shop.

Bullish Beautiful
Pros

Good Value, safe and reliable

Cons

Costly repairs

These are a multi-car owner' type vehicle and fine examples can still be found with low miles. Once fixed they tend to stay fixed with proper maintenance, you absolutely can't find a better value in a luxury sedan. They tend to spoil the owner with style, comfort, and performance. Decent gas mileage on premium fuel, huge trunk, and your almost guaranteed to walk away from fender benders, these are heavy, but handle like a dream in sport-mode. Parts are available so you can keep it running, find a good euro mechanic and go for it.

***Such a beast of a car***
Pros

Love the power and the handling

Cons

expensive to keep it maintain

I purchased this vehicle about 6 month ago from a 2nd owner, it has a clean title and it's in excellent mechanical condition. It's such a sleeper, I could drive it normally just like a regular sedan but if I pressed the gas pedal a little harder the "beast" woke up! Love it...
