Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type-S, 2023-2025 Honda Pilot, and 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S vehicles. A software error in the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU) may cause an engine stall or a loss of power. An engine stall or loss of power can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy

Dealers will reprogram the FI-ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 17, 2025. Owners may contact Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s numbers for this recall are EL1 and AL0.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Passport and 2023-2025 Pilot vehicles. The fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe may separate, allowing fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid, and 2025 Honda Civic and Civic Hybrid vehicles. The high-pressure fuel pump may crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Acura Integra, Civic Type R, CR-V Hybrid, CR-V, HR-V, 2022-2025 Civic, Civic Hatchback, 2024-2025 Acura Integra Type S, 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell EV, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Hatchback Hybrid vehicles. The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause excessive internal friction and lead to difficulty steering the vehicle. Difficulty steering can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Summary

Honda (America Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Fit and 2019-2022 HR-V vehicles that were previously recalled under NHTSA recall number 23V-046. The rearview camera image may not display when the engine is started with a key, due to a design error in the audio display power circuit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.” An inoperative rearview camera display can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the display audio unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 8, 2024. Owners may contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s numbers for this recall are TIQ and DIR. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 23V-046 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Summary

Honda (America Honda Motor Co) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Ridgeline vehicles. The rearview camera (RVC) tailgate wire harness may fatigue and break, which can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver’s rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the RVC tailgate wire harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 1, 2024. Owners may contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s number for this recall is YI7.

Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Pilot, Accord, Civic sedan, HR-V, Odyssey, 2020 Civic coupe, Fit, 2021-2022 Civic hatchback, 2021 Civic Type R, Insight, 2020-2021 CR-V, CR-V Hybrid, Passport, Ridgeline, Accord Hybrid, 2020 Acura MDX, 2022 Acura MDX, 2020-2022 Acura RDX, and 2020-2021 Acura TLX vehicles. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, failing to suppress the air bag as intended. An air bag that deploys unintentionally during a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Honda Accord, Civic Coupe, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Civic Type R, CR-V, HR-V, Ridgeline, Odyssey, Acura ILX, MDX, MDX Hybrid, RDX, RLX, TLX, 2019-2020 Honda Insight, Passport, 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid, 2018-2019 Honda Clarity PHEV, Fit, and 2017-2020 Honda Accord Hybrid, Pilot, Acura NSX vehicles. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail. Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020-2022 CR-V Hybrid vehicles. The 12-Volt battery cable routed outside of the body frame is missing a fuse on the power circuit, which can allow the battery cable to short circuit or overheat during a crash. An overheated battery cable or short circuit can increase the risk of a fire or injury in a crash.

Remedy

Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles. The front seat belt pretensioners may be missing the rivet that secures the quick connector and wire plate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, “Occupant Crash Protection,” 209, “Seat Belt Assembles,” and 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.” A seat belt pretensioner missing a rivet will not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt pretensioner assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 8, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s numbers for this recall are MG7 and NG5.

Honda’s biggest recall issue since 2000 has been with defective Takata-sourced airbag inflators that can injure or kill occupants with shrapnel in a deployment. Nearly 12 million Honda and Acura vehicles have been recalled in the campaign to replace Takata inflators with new units from other suppliers. Honda no longer equips its vehicles with airbag components sourced by Takata. The Honda recall includes the following models: 2001-12 Accords; 2001-11 Civics (all models); 2002-11 CR-V; 2011-15 CR-Z; 2003-11 Element; 2010-2014 FCX Clarity; 2007-14 Fit; 2010-14 Insight; 2002-04 Odyssey; 2003-13 Pilot; 2006-14 Ridgeline; 2010-11 Crosstour.

According to a factsheet compiled by the automaker, “As Honda continues its extensive and unprecedented efforts to replace defective Takata airbag inflators in Honda and Acura vehicles, the company, along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is focusing on a subset of these inflators that are especially worrisome. These so-called “Alpha” inflators, found in certain 2001 – 2003 Honda and Acura models, have an alarming rupture rate of as high as 50 percent, according NHTSA and Takata. In addition to original Takata manufacturing defects, which prompted the first inflator recalls in 2008 and 2009, the passage of time and exposure to hot and humid conditions makes these older inflators particularly vulnerable to ruptures, which can cause serious injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

Honda reports a completion rate of up to 80 percent on vehicles in the first year of ownership, but also that it has found the completion percentage has declined with each passing year to around 33 percent in the 9th and 10th year of ownership. Honda says a significant number of vehicles affected by the Takata airbag inflator recalls are now or soon to be more than 15 years old.
