Positive Review
Have had the car for awhile and can't really say enough about its quality and style. Only negative is everyone tries to race you even around town. Love all the options that were available and find the head-up display to be a favorite along with all the other tech features. Beautiful exterior and interior lighting at night. More comfortable than I thought it would be with run-flat tires and low suspension. Good feel for the road but it doesn't beat you up when you are driving. Prepare to be blown back in your seat when you accelerate and cornering is phenomenal with the low center of gravity. Car is expensive but is worth it compared to other sport coupe options.
Critical Review
I just purchased a 2018 430i Gran Coupe. I would love the car, BUT, for some reason BMW decided to eliminate the back lighting for daytime driving on the speedometer and Tach gauge, making it VERY difficult to see how fast you are going in certain conditions. If you tint windows and wear sunglasses (I live in a Sunny area), the speedometer can become just a blur of grey. FYI- there is no digital speedometer available unless you buy the heads up display. I have complained but was told that this new feature is just the way it comes. To my dismay, the radio stations, mileage, time, temperature and other non-essential readings are back lit?????? This is my 3rd BMW and no other has had this issue. I feel this can become a safety issue when you are trying to focus on reading a greyd out speedometer instead of focusing on the road. You should be able to check your speed at a glance. Other than this issue, I would love the car.

Everything
Nothing
Love my 2014 428i. Love the looks, love the performance. In 7 years of ownership, I have only had one mechanical issue (electrical). For a 10+ year old vehicle, that is incredible. I have owned 14 cars in my life, including 3 BMWs (1979 320, 1995 318, and 2014 428) and the BMWs were better than all the rest in every way. I am now on the hunt for my next one.

I bought the M4 convertible new in 2016. I have owned Corvettes, Porsches, BMWs and even a Nissan GTR. The 2016 was the last year of the hardtop convertible and it has never had any mechanical problems in 8 years and 62 thousand miles
2014 was the first year for the 4 series featuring a new 4 cylinder turbo for the 428. This engine is a disaster. Known issue with the timing chain, if you are buying used make sure it has been replaced by a BMW dealer. Otherwise, be prepared to pay for a 8-9k repair. Also head gasket issues, mine blew up at only 72,300 miles which essentially totaled the car. That being said, they are really fun to drive, look sharp, and sip gas. If you are looking for a used one, go for the 435 and get the 6 cylinder to avoid the risk.
This model and year is unsurpassed even by the brand new models. How about high performance, up to 45 miles per gallon, burled walnut interior, as well as classic looks. This coupe has it all-it is destined to be a classic and really it already is. It is not only one of the classiest cars in appearance including an interior that is unavailable now except in 200k+ automobiles, but the combination of all these qualities in one automobile is unexcelled even by the new models. Why would you want an electric car when you can have it all in one vehicle?
I really love this car. I get all the power and performance out of it that i need. I also get a very beautiful car.

No defrost/leg function
I have owned a lot of cars and this one is by far my favorite. It’s sporty and fun and corners amazingly. It’s great for long road trips as well. It’s a perfect combination of luxury and sport. I rarely ever invest much into a car cause I usually trade them in but this is a keeper. My only complaint is that there is no defrost/feet function. You can only use defrost so my legs get cold often. This car gets a ton of attention and I have had people ask me to give them a ride in it. If you can get your hands on this car you should keep it. I have the 40i rear wheel drive fully loaded. The Harman Kardon stereo is a must and sounds amazing! You won’t be disappointed!
