"Still Love my TTS"

I am still loving my TTS. It is a real blast to drive and it gets a lot of notice when you drive down the road. Once you get used to its size and not having a usable rear seat, you will enjoy the TTS for what it is, a really great car to drive. It handles well. It handles so well, it inspires confidence. It gets up to speed really quickly and the brakes slow it down pretty quickly, too. It hugs the road and goes where you point it. The TTS feels competent at most any speed and situation. You cant ask for much more than that. I have taken the TTS on several long distance runs and it has proven to be a comfortable and fun highway car. Although it is small and light, it is not affected by large trucks passing by (although most of the time I am passing the trucks). I have also tried it out on the twisty mountain roads of Georgia and it has proven to be quite capable. It has more capability than I think I will likely ever use. I dont have any real complaints. I do think that the TTS could use a 7th gear. At 75 MPH the 2.0T engine is turning at 3,000 RPMs. I think that a 7th gear would bring down the RPMs a little on the highway and result in better gas mileage. Although, 28+ MPG on the highway while cruising at 75 MPH is not bad at all. I do wish the TTS had drivers seat memory. The seats are very comfortable (my wife loves the adjustable side bolsters), but it takes me a little time to find my preferred seating position after someone else moves the drivers seat. Also, I wish Audi offered a moon roof as an option. Sports car purists would probably prefer a Porsche Boxster. However, the TTS is certainly a very capable road car and it is probably a little more practical as an every day driver. All in all, the TTS is a great car to own and drive.

Critical Review

"A light that failed"

This review is for the RS version. I once owned a 2012 RS that I liked very much. When the RS was reintroduced in 2018, I started looking right away, and eventually found one in NC that I had delivered to my home. Had I driven the car first, I never would have purchased it. In spite of the fact that it was more powerful, it lacked the excellent acceleration that my 2012 had. The worst things about it, however, were the awful ride and excessive tire noise, due to the 20-255/30 tires, a profile inappropriate for regular driving. My previous RS had 19” wheels, which were much better. I put up with it until the day that I drove a Porsche Cayman, which I bought on the spot: it was superior in every way to the Audi.

Best Sports Car

The TT roadster is a great driving and performing convertible. I have had three now and loved each one. It’s affordably priced for a quality automobile.

The tts is a solid performer
Pros

Fit and finish, quality build, fun to drive

Cons

Road noise is a little loud

Great styling and performance. A fun car to drive. After owning a TT for 4 years the tts has more power and the magnetic ride control is impressive. Add the additional exhaust sound and its quite an improvement.

Great car
Pros

Great driving car…. Head turner.

Cons

Rear seats for children and dogs only!

Difficult to find a complaint… in the past 4 years less than 1000 sold in the US per year. Thus, rare. 2022 last year petro TT will be made. Great price…. Thousands less than comparative models. Definitely an eye catcher. Yes, stiff ride… recommend 18 or 19 wheels. Quick, responsive…. Great handling. If one enjoys driving a car instead of an autonomous ride…You will not be disappointed. If you want to be driven (smile)…. stay away.

Best of both worlds, performance/economy
Pros

great performance AND economy

Cons

OEM brakes dont hold up well after a track day.

I was looking at Lexus RCF and Audi TTS and am extremely happy to have chosen the Audi TTS. The performance is great but yet when I drive sensibly, I can get over 30MPGs, 32 as a matter of fact. The look at styling is great as well, IMHO of course. I have taken the car onto a track and it out performs most of the cars there, in the intermediate class. The brakes are odd though in that the use performance brakes in the front that are hard to get outside the OEM.

2018 Audi TT Coupe Competition Pkg /Quattro
Pros

value, quality, practical, fun, economical, unique

Cons

ingress /egress, difficult to see out when backing

This is actually my third Audi ( priors-1998 A4 2.8 V6 Quattro -5spd, and a 2001 TT Coupe 1.8T Quattro 5spd) . I special ordered this car and received it June 2018. Tango red w/ Competition Pkg. 16,500 miles ....When new hatch needed to be tightened but that aside she is trouble free. I am so glad I bought the normal TT as the TTS /TTRS seem overkill . I rarely "floor it" ...A 0-60 of 5.3seconds seems quite fast for the street and anything more seems wasted money to impress someone else. I looked at 18 cars when I considered the TT. The BMW 2 series coupe and a Porsche Cayman were close runners but the TT was chosen and offered some practicality , the renown Quattro AWD, $10k less than the Cayman and still gets 29 to 32mpg. Quality is outstanding and just as good if not better interior than the 2 and Cayman. The back seat is useless except in an emergency but at least it has the option . The trunk space is huge and is consolidated (unlike the split trunks of the Cayman . I will keep this car at least the full 4yrs of the warranty period maybe even 5) as yes, there will be another which will eventually catch my eye..... but thinking this is quite special and in no hurry just to chase another XYZ. I heard that 21 is the last year .Only 3500 are sold world wide and it became too expensive to build. ( half in Germany and half built in Hungary) . If interested you won't regret it . Highly recommended and it is rare and unique.

2018 Audi best of 3 TT`s. This TTS is quick, fairly comfortable for trips with room for two full set of golf clubs and luggage for two adults. Loves to be pushed. Plenty of leg room and headroom.
